North Wymondham Community Centre will use their annual Community Garage Sale on Bank Holiday Monday 31 August, to launch “Artist Tree”, a new tree-themed arts project. The hall will be open between 11.00am and 2.00pm for a display of tree inspired paintings by local resident Nicola Durrant, alongside a selection of work by the Thursday Art Group, which meets at the venue. A piece of collective artwork called Tree House, produced by children at Ashleigh School, will be on view and there will be information about Greening Wymondham’s Tree Trail. Christine Chapman of ChrisCreations will be selling her unique beaded Tree of Life designs and John Beckett, will present some of his tree poems from his recently published collection. There will also be a performance of a play by local playwright, Tony Vale, called Comment Tree, where an Oak Tree is in conversation with a Leylandii. It is hoped that residents and visitors will support the event, whilst browsing the 100 or so Garage Sale stalls that are anticipated across the town.
